If pain is keeping you from playing your best golf, or keeping you off the course altogether, finding the right professional can be challenging. Should you see a rehab professional? A golf fitness professional? A strength coach? Someone who understands the golf swing? Ideally, you want someone who understands all of them.

I’m Dan Swinscoe, PT, MPT, CSCS, founder of Train2Win Physical Therapy in Scottsdale, Arizona. For more than 30 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of rehabilitation and performance, helping everyone from recreational golfers to professional athletes move better, feel better, and perform better. What makes my work with golfers unique is the combination of clinical expertise, golf specific training, and performance experience I bring to every evaluation.Schedule an appointment

Pain is more complicated than where it hurts

One of the biggest mistakes I see with injured golfers is focusing exclusively on the painful area. Where you hurt and why you hurt aren't the same thing. The golf swing requires the entire body to work together. Your feet interact with the ground, your hips and trunk rotate, and forces are transferred through your body and ultimately into the club. A limitation anywhere along that chain can force another part of the body to compensate. That's why my first objective isn't simply to determine what hurts. We need to understand why it hurts.  Only then can we expect improvement to be long lasting. Schedule an appointment

A Rare Combination of Golf and Clinical Expertise

I hold both TPI Medical Level 3 and Fitness Level 3 certifications through the Titleist Performance Institute. That's an important combination.

The Medical certification focuses on evaluating and managing injuries and physical limitations that can affect golfers. The Fitness certification focuses on the physical qualities necessary to produce an efficient, powerful golf swing. My background also includes more than three decades as a physical therapist and strength and conditioning professional.

Golf Digest has also recognized me as one of its "Best Fitness Trainers in America", making this combination of advanced clinical and golf-performance expertise particularly uncommon in Arizona. In fact, Im the only one.  But credentials only matter if you know how to apply them.
